Our lecturer PhDr. Zuzana Gavalierová, MPH, who shares with students her extensive experience as a nurse in outpatient care, took part in an expert meeting of the Ministry of Health of the Slovak Republic on 27 March 2026, held on the occasion of World Adherence Day. At the invitation of the Ministry, she gave a presentation at the expert workshop entitled Nurse-Led Educational Intervention to Improve Treatment Adherence.
In the presence of the Minister of Health, she was joined by the President of the Slovak Society of Hypertension, the President of the Slovak Society of Angiology, the President of the Slovak Chamber of Pharmacists, the Head of the Department of Cardiology at the Faculty of Medicine, Comenius University and the National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases (NÚSCH, a.s.), and the Director of the Analysis Department at the Institute of Health Analyses of the Ministry of Health. Together they highlighted the problem of patients not adhering to their treatment, which leads to a loss of control over chronic disease. They also presented recommendations for encouraging patients to engage in adherence, which is a key factor in the effectiveness of treatment.
We thank her for an excellent presentation and her professional approach, which plays a key role in shaping the professional identity of nurses.
