Why Study Midwifery?

Our lecturers are closely connected to clinical practice, which allows them to enrich lectures and seminars with practical insights, case studies, and examples from their own professional experience. We provide high-quality theoretical education delivered by a team of educators with experience from various domestic and international universities and clinical workplaces in the field of midwifery.

Successful completion of the programme guarantees 100% employability in the labour market as a midwife. You will have a wide range of job opportunities both in Slovakia and abroad, given the global shortage of midwives. A degree in midwifery is recognized and fully compatible across the European Union.

Graduates can work as midwives in both public and private sectors, including independent practice. You may also apply your knowledge and experience in research, management, and education.

Career Opportunities for Graduates

A midwife is a person who has completed the prescribed midwifery education programme, officially recognized in the country where it is delivered, successfully finished the required studies in midwifery, and obtained the qualification necessary to be registered and authorized to practise the profession.

A midwife is competent to perform activities within the scope of midwifery practice, such as:

  • providing care for low-risk pregnant women, mothers, and their newborns

  • preparing women for childbirth and conducting physiological (normal) deliveries

  • providing postpartum care

  • supporting breastfeeding

Midwives may practise independently within the community, in the home environment of women and their families. Within integrated healthcare systems, conditions are created for cooperation with health insurance providers.

In clinical practice, midwives also participate in the professional training of midwifery students.

Graduates may further expand their expertise through specialization studies, certified professional activities, and lactation consultancy training.
