On Saturday, February 28, 2026, a formal graduation ceremony for graduates of the bachelor’s degree program in Social Work took place in the beautiful historic premises of the Jesuit church in Skalica. The graduates completed their studies at our workplace – the Institute of Social Work and Nursing of MUDr. Pavol Blaho in Skalica.
The event was a dignified culmination of several years of their work, effort, and personal growth—a moment that remains in the memory not only of the graduates but also of their families and lecturers. The ceremony was attended by faculty members of the St. Elizabeth University of Health and Social Sciences and representatives of the academic community. Among the distinguished guests was the university’s Vice-Rector, Assoc. Prof. PhDr. Marek Stachoň, PhD., who in his speech highlighted the importance of social work as a profession based on expertise, humanity, and responsibility toward those facing difficult life situations. The ceremony was also honored by the Mayor of Skalica, Mgr. Oľga Luptáková, who emphasized the importance of social work for local communities and appreciated that Skalica is a place where future professionals capable of providing real help in practice are being educated.
Graduation is more than just the awarding of a diploma. It is a symbolic “transition”—a confirmation that graduates have mastered not only their studies but also the skills required in social work: empathy, the ability to work with challenging situations, communicate, seek solutions, and at the same time maintain professional boundaries. It is precisely this combination of expertise and human integrity that makes social work a profession with a societal impact far beyond a single institution or city.
We would like to thank everyone who was part of this exceptional event—lecturers, guests, families, and loved ones of the graduates who supported them throughout their studies.
We warmly congratulate the graduates and wish them that they apply their newly acquired knowledge and experience in practice so that their work brings real benefit to people while also giving them professional fulfillment.
